This paper examines how Printable Electronics, an additive manufacturing technology, can play a role to evolve the function and operation of commercial buildings. The paper focuses on the major components of building automation systems. It examines how PE can change building operations and automation systems, enabling improved control, sensors and ultimately better conditions for those inside. It goes on to assess the degree to which these technologies are ready for development and deployment.
