Houzz.com and CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association) surveyed almost 1000 people renovating homes. About 45% installed some automation. Preferred systems were security, entertainment, climate control (especially thermostats), and lighting. 25% used voice recognition; 30% used a central controller. Top reasons for not automating were lack of interest, cost, and concerns for loss of privacy.
