This research from ABB, Microsoft and Zpryme explores the value of connectivity between information technology (IT) and operations technology (OT) as it relates to utility companies. Approximately 45% of respondents indicated that integration between IT and OT was extremely valuable to their business. The report highlights that improved integrations will enhance the use of real-time and predictive data in assisting the business with its asset management. Asset management is surveyed as an increasing area of importance for utilities and IT-OT will allow them to improve planning of capital investments; correlate the impact of upcoming DER; and also aids with cyber security.
