A survey of 86 municipal utilities was conducted in Spring 2016 by Zpryme on behalf of Milestone Utility Services. This survey found that budget limitations and business case “ROI” are the most significant challenges for smart grid initiatives. Many utilities are embracing next-generation technologies, particularly AMI, automation/grid optimization, meter data management and data analytics. Information on deployment status, budget amounts and customer engagement tools is provided.
