This paper published in February 2020 Sustainable Development, an academic journal, looks at the concept of sustainability in contemporary architectural design. It explores the attributes which characterize different approaches to sustainable building design. The research was developed through a consultation process with several sustainable architects in the UK. It seeks to provide an original typology of sustainable practice.
